LEADER REFLECTION:

In this challenge we had to diagnose a patient. We did very well on finding out what our patient had. What didn’t work well was typing the medical chart. The research helped us find out which type of diabetes she had. The best part of the project was creating a wiki. This was a good project because we all had fun and got to learn more about the computer. I think this was a great experience, but I think it can be improved by having more challenges.

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTION:

QUESTION: Your two kidneys are part of the urinary system. The kidneys filter waste from your blood. Why are the kidneys one of the most important organs in the body? Can people live with only one kidney? If the kidneys are not functioning properly people can be hooked to a dialysis machine to filter their blood 3 times a week. Why does your blood need to be filtered?
YOUR ANSWER:
The kidneys are very important because it filters your blood and cleans it. If your blood has a lot of glucose(Basically sugar), it’s not good. The kidneys can help by separating the blood and glucose.
People can live with one kidney because you can still filter blood with one instead of two. One kidney can still function without the other since they are two separate kidneys.
Your blood needs to be filtered because glucose and other things that can cause sicknesses travel in your blood. If you filter it, you can get rid of the glucose and other stuff.
