Hormones-Chemicals produced by glands that affect body functions.
Pancreas-An organ near the stomach that produces digestive juices and hormones.
Stress-Physical, mental, or emotional strain.
Endocrine System-The group of organ that produce hormones.

EXPLORE MORE ASSIGNMENTS:

· It's a little-known system made up of a whole collection of glands.
  • Your endocrine system does even more through the wonder of chemicals.
  • Endocrine glands spew their hormones directly into your bloodstream
  • You've got over 30 of these amazing hormones busily orchestrating and regulating such things as: when you feel hungry or full; how you sleep; your body temperature; how you break down and utilize the food you eat and whether you are fat or thin; when you start puberty and how long it takes; how you handle stress; how much adrenaline you have in an emergency situation...even how and when you grow.
  • The time when your body begins its final journey to become adult is also run by these hormones. It's called puberty and it involves all sorts of big and small changes to your body .
  • During puberty, your body begins to change -- girls develop breasts and hips; boys get taller and bigger bodies and more muscles. Hair begins to develop in varying degrees on boys and girls: pubic hair, arm pit hair, leg hair, and, on boys, facial and body hair. By the time you've finished puberty, you will have become an adult. You may also like other gender, and experiencing emotions that are new to you. And, if you are a boy, you will have become able toto father a baby; if you are a girl, you will have developed the ability to have a baby.

CRITICAL THINKING QUESTION:

QUESTION: The endocrine system controls growth and helps the body deal with stress and emergencies. Glands are organs of the endocrine system. The glands release hormones into the blood. People with diabetes do not produce the hormone insulin to help control their sugar levels in their blood. Refer to World Book Student for more information about diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is increasing among some children and adults. Where is the hormone insulin produced? If you have Type 1 diabetes does it go away? How is the disease controlled? Why are there more and more people getting Type 2 diabetes?

YOUR ANSWER:The hormone insulin is produced in the pancreas. If you have type 1 diabetes it cannot go away. The disease is controled by a good diet and exersise. There are more and more people are getting Type 2 diabetes because it is the most common.
